Montrio Belton, Esquire
Montrio M. Belton is a native of Abbeville, South Carolina, and its public schools. His career has included tenures as an Army Reserves soldier, middle school teacher, football, basketball and track coach, high school assistant principal, middle school principal, South Carolina’s Director of School Transformation and lawyer.
He studied in the USC Criminal Law Clinic, clerked in York County Public Defender’s, and served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Daniel D. Hall in South Carolina’s 16th Circuit—a role in which he researched and actively participated in many criminal and civil trials and other decisions. His experiences as an educational leader and working closely with senior public defendants and a circuit court judge have given him unique insights and experiences that enable him to competently and zealously represent his clients.
Montrio received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Winthrop University and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He maintains his license as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in South Carolina and North Carolina. He also has a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and is a licensed attorney in South Carolina.
Montrio is the founder and sole owner of the Law Offices of Montrio Belton, LLC and focuses his practice on Criminal Defense, Family Law, Personal Injury, School Law, and Workers’ Compensation. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, York County Bar (serves as Treasurer), South Carolina Association of Justice, and South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
Montrio is married and has two children. He enjoys running, reading, adventurous outdoor activities, Carolina Panthers and Carolina Gamecock Football, traveling with his wife and children, non-chain restaurants, old school R&B and rap, and anything related to wine and craft beer.
